A few years back, Cow had to travel to Santa Barbara for a wedding in the family. It was really sweet - an outdoor affair under the trees at dusk, with flower petals paving the way to the minister up front. The floral scent that wafted up as those hooves crushed the living daylights out of those petals was just heavenly. You might say that the wedding was bovinely divine, but I wouldn't, because that would be cheesy.

The day after the wedding, Cow did a little exploring. Here she is taking a stroll along the palm-tree lined boulevard across from the beach. She had to move off the sidewalk to allow a herd of nuns to pass, and she managed to get one of them to take her picture. I think it turned out quite nice.

Funny story: after this picture was taken, the nuns turned around to see a naked Elvis strolling along the path strumming a guitar held strategically over his naughty bits. They all screeched a little scandalously, but he was really good, so they hovered around pretending to make small talk with Cow while surreptitiously listening to the naked Elvis. After three or four songs, they so far forgot themselves as to ask for his autograph, but when he started to shift the guitar to get a better angle for signing, they screamed and took off in all directions, like black dandelions scattering on the wind. Cow keeps her autographed picture of Naked Elvis in her bathroom.

Cows Love to Shop!

I bet you didn't know that Cow was a shopoholic? Well, she is. Mostly browsing, as she saves as much money as possible for her travels.

One of her favorite places to find cool stuff is on Etsy (in fact, we sell mementos of Cow's vacations there). Here is a selection of things that Cow really likes ... can you guess why? ;D

Cornelius the Cow Finger Puppet by sweetlittlebirdie
This finger puppet is awesome. So awesome in fact, that Cow secretly wishes she could surgically enhance one of her hooves to have a finger so that she could play with this puppet.

Egg Cozy, Cow by Momfetti
This cozy is so cute, Cow almost lost her resolve not to eat eggs (one of her best friends is a chicken). Although it might make a great gift for a chicken to keep her egg warm while she gabs at the fence with her bovine best friend...

Now THIS is something Cow could use! It is almost like it was designed specifically with a traveling cow in mind!

The Sound of Crashing Waves

Cow absolutely loves visiting the San Juan Islands in Northwest Washington. First of all, the people here are very friendly and accepting of cows. She only got a handful of surprised stares as she boarded the ferry, but that could have been due more to her brilliant-hued life jacket than the fact that she's a cow. (Cow has a mild fear of traveling out in open water.)

Once the ferry docked at Orcas Island, though, she was golden. She stayed at some lovely cabins right on this sweet little cove where the waves lapped gently or crashed wildly, dependent on the weather at the time. The sunsets were pretty sweet.

Pssst! Interested in visiting the same cabins Cow enjoyed? Check them out here!

Welcome to Cow's Very First Blog Post!

Cow is extremely excited to be joining the mass communication wave with her very own blog. Nothing thrills her more than sharing personal experiences with unknown numbers of complete strangers.

Mostly, she just wants an excuse to go on vacation more often.

Cow debated long and hard about which vacation photo to share first. She finally decided to go with the one that started it all. She had taken a weekend away at the nearby San Juan Islands. While there, she'd needed to take care of some personal business while out sight-seeing. A passer-by found it highly ironic and asked to take her picture and Cow's latest obsession was born.

Pretty soon she was harassing all sorts of locals to take her picture wherever she went. Astonishingly enough, most everyone agrees. Well, maybe it isn't so astonishing once I think about it - I mean, she is a cow and she's got that forceful stare.
